I would like to see the spinnaker being an optional launch from.broad reach to broad reach.
Imagine Tables
i think we should add asymmetrical spinnakers since you can use them alot more and they are more relevant since most modern boats have them they should be controlled the same way as the main sheet and the genuar we should also have control over the halyard since it being automatic is a bit too easy for the speed it gives. sorry if the terms are wrong my primary language for sailing is danish.

I've grown to love the requirements to get it up but to compensate would like it to stay up at a wider angle. it should be possible to keep it up for one triangle leg and an advantage if you do it well but a disadvantage if you take too long

Option to launch and retrieve controlled by the helm with a wider angle of deployment would be good. leaving retrive to the helm is essential for realism (tactically get it wrong eg by trying to turn to windward beat or gybe with it flying and your race is done) All that said, I like what you have done so far - makes for attractiove sailing. More colours perhaps starting with a national colour(s) or a small flag.

It's been a while since we had spinnakers in races.
Let me know how you feel about them now.
How could we make them better?
Aaron Sawyer
I think their needs to be quite a bit more space in where the Spinnaker stays up (for realism) but don't mind the direct downwind requirement for gameplay to launch.
Needs to be a jibe penalty though!
Greg Dziemidowicz
Aaron Sawyer: So what should/could happen when you jibe? A simple option could be to "take it down", and require player to wait again for it to launch on a new tack
Aaron Sawyer
also There should be a penalty in speed when it goes up and when it jibes. In real life a boat that puts up and takes down the Spinnaker poorly is slower overall than one that does not. in highland races this is a strategic concern for boats, whether or not we will just sail well or try for a Spinnaker launch and risk disaster
Aaron Sawyer
the Spinnaker is wonderful but too confined to directly downwind. Perhaps once it's up it stays up inside closer to a 30 degree range? people should be able to put it up and keep it up going from Mark A to be and be to see. That's how real life is. @greg.

Spinnaker great fun as a new toy but blind sailing is not a help. need to see under it when up Also needs to be helms choice when to launch and take down with a button and a slower launch (and take down) with problems with boat handling if you get it wrong. But presumably all thats coming . Look forward to seeing a race with all the spinnackers flying should look glorius
Greg Dziemidowicz
Mike Hoare: Thanks Mike! I expect it will take a while to fully "nail" it, but yes, the end result should be awesome :-)
